Roundtable Discussion on Legislative Burdens for Businesses

Event Details

Government recently published a report evaluating the cumulative impact of recent labour legislation on business, such as auto-enrolment in pension schemes, the continued expansion of statutory sick pay entitlements, the right to request remote work, ongoing gender pay gap reporting, and increases in the national minimum wage. The report highlights that certain sectors may experience nearly a 20% rise in labour costs by 2026, before subsequent pay pressures or standard wage growth are even considered. As we navigate through significant legislative changes, your insights are crucial for shaping our advocacy strategies and ensuring that the voices of our members are heard.

The roundtable discussion will be held online at 12pm on Friday, 5th of April. The session will last approximately 60 minutes, and we hope to have a robust exchange of views and sharing of business experiences. Discussion will be based on your individual input and broadly framed by the following themes:

1) Among recent legislative changes—auto-enrolment in pension schemes, expansion of statutory sick pay, the right to request remote work, gender pay gap reporting, and minimum wage increases—which do you foresee having the most significant impact on your firm’s operations or financial health, and why? Additionally, what will their cumulative effect be on your business?

2) What are the greatest challenges your business anticipates in complying with this new wave of legislation and what strategies or solutions have you started to use to navigate this?
3) Do you have any key asks of Government or recommendations that would support your business as it navigates these legislative changes? These could be in the form of policy amendments, implementation timelines, support mechanisms, or any
other area where you believe government action could better support your business.

Please register your interest in participating by emailing sophie@dublinchamber.ie. Attendance will be limited, so the remaining participant list will be filled on a first come first served basis.

I do hope that you are available to take part and provide your valuable insights and perspectives
