The role of the Board of Directors and the proposed changes to Dublin Chamber Constitution
The board of directors have a fiduciary responsibility for the governance, strategic and oversight functions of Dublin Chamber. Following a robust review of our constitution, the board of directors propose that the process by which members are appointed to the Chambers policy Council change from an election process to selection process.
The board of directors have made the decision to update two processes in the constitution.
A. The process by which members can join Dublin Chamber Council and a change from an election process to selection process.
B. The process by which Honorary Officers are appointed. (President, Vice President, Honorary Treasurer) and changing from an election process to selection process.
The role of the Policy Council
Dubin Chamber’s policy council is an advisory committee of members who identify and approve Dublin Chamber’s lobbying priorities on behalf of members. Each member contributes to a taskforce which support the Chamber’s overall strategy, mission and vision.
What could this mean for you as a member of the Chamber?
• There will no longer be an election process for a position on council.
• Applicants for all appointments to the policy council will be received by a nominations committee who giving due regard to selection criteria and the advocacy agenda of the Chamber will work in conjunction with the board of directors who will appoint individuals to positions on council.
• All appointments for Council will continue to go forward for ratification at the Dublin Chamber AGM.
• All appointments for Honorary Officer positions will continue to go forward to ratification at the first Council meeting directly after the AGM.
• Your rights as a member have not changed.
We welcome your feedback on the proposed changes and hope you can attend the briefing where we can address any questions or queries you might have before an EGM in early January 2025.
