Since the pandemic, Grid Finance have been putting a renewed focus on SME Financial Health. They commissioned Red C to complete some research on SME Financial Health and it has provided some interesting results. The focus is on small business because they believe they are the ones the need the most support.

Some of the key findings are:

• Small businesses are note accessing government supports at the level they should
• Small businesses do not believe that government policy understands the reality of being a small business owner
• 3/4 small businesses do not believe their business will get better in the future
• 4/5 think their business is getting harder to keep going
• Only half hold a cash buffer and 30% do not have access to short-term credit
