Concern is an international humanitarian organisation and the largest NGO in Ireland, working in 25 countries worldwide with the world’s poorest and most vulnerable people. Gender inequality remains a major barrier to ending poverty and improving lives worldwide. Concern knows that supporting the gender equality agenda creates a responsible, diverse and socially impactful working culture.
This year, Concern Worldwide hosts its 5th anniversary Women of Concern event on Friday 13 October 2023 at The Round Room at The Mansion House to celebrate the lives of women and girls as powerful agents of change. Several Chamber of Commerce members have already committed to supporting this event – please join Concern in celebrating women in the global society who make a real difference. At the same time this event will raise vital funds to continue Concern's drive towards gender equality in all its countries of operation.
Concern focuses on gender equality as a means to significantly reduce inequalities and empower people living in extreme poverty to improve their lives. Gender inequality is the most common form of inequality and a major barrier to the eradication of poverty worldwide.
To find out more about the impact of their work, check out the newly published annual report [link to here, which highlights that last year Concern reached 36 million people in extreme poverty worldwide, 16 million people through our emergency response activities.
