Back to Articles

23 August 2023

The Residential Property Index (RPPI) for June 2023 was released this month. This publication by the CSO is a long running index looking at the cost of residential property in Ireland.

“The national Residential Property Price Index (RPPI) increased by 2.2% in the 12 months to June 2023, with prices in Dublin decreasing by 0.9% and prices outside Dublin up by 4.5%.”   – Central Statistics Office

This marks a consecutive decrease in RPPI as May reported a slightly less decrease of 0.1%. Last month’s decrease has been the largest decrease observed by the index since October 2020. Within Dublin, prices in the 12 months up to June 2023 fell by 3.8% in Dublin City, while prices rose by 2.8% in South Dublin over the same period, while the larger decrease in prices was observed among houses rather than apartments.

Dublin Chamber welcomes this news as the issue of housing remains a top priority for the business community in the Dublin region. Dublin Chamber continually advocates for increases in the supply of affordable housing in region, whilst ensuring the allocation of affordable housing in Dublin is met through the National Planning Framework, as well as ensuring that the Croí Cónaigh Cities Scheme, Project Tosaigh and the first Home Scheme are adequately funded to increase supply.
