Siobhan O'Shea, Dublin Chamber President delivers remarks at Dublin Chamber Annual Dinner

On the evening of Thursday 3rd October, over 1,000 business representatives will gather at Dublin Chamber’s 2024 Annual Dinner, sponsored by AIB, where Dublin Chamber President and Director of Scaled Business Success at Indeed, Siobhan O’ Shea will call on Government to embrace a bold and ambitious vision for Dublin’s future.

In her keynote address, O’ Shea will emphasise the urgent need to tackle the City’s critical infrastructure challenges, in housing, public transport, water and wastewater systems and energy. Calling for an ambitious housing strategy, the Dublin Chamber President will propose that half of all new homes built annually be in the Greater Dublin Area (GDA). She will also stress the urgency of commencing and completing key projects, such as the Eastern and Midlands Water Supply Project and Dublin Drainage Scheme, within the next government’s term. Additionally, she will call for the accelerated delivery of public transport and energy initiatives to address the city’s growing capacity constraints.

While acknowledging these challenges, O’Shea will also celebrate Dublin's strengths - highlighting its diversity, economic vibrancy and competitive advantages. She will urge the next government to prioritise people, ensuring that Dublin remains a safe and attractive place to live, work and do business.

Another central theme of O’Shea’s address will be enhancing connectivity. She will also speak to the need for the removal of the 32 million passenger cap at Dublin Airport – a crucial step to sustain Dublin’s role in supporting the country’s interconnected global economy.

Tánaiste Micheál Martin and Joe Kennedy III, United States Special Envoy to Northern Ireland will also deliver their own addresses tonight to the 1,000 plus business leaders attending Dublin Chamber’s 2024 AGM Dinner.
