Dublin Chamber Calls for the Completion of Metrolink by 2030 in Response to Latest Project Update
+Dublin Chamber calls on Government to ensure MetroLink urgently delivered by National Transport Authority
30th September 2022: In response to the Railway Order application made today by the National Roads Authority (operating as TII) to An Bord Pleanála, Dublin Chamber calls on Government for project momentum to be maintained to aid the urgent completion of MetroLink by 2030.
Mary Rose Burke, CEO of Dublin Chamber, commented: “Dublin Chamber calls on Government for the urgent completion of MetroLink by 2030, particularly as it remains the missing link of vital transport infrastructure between Dublin Airport and the city centre. Ease of access to and from Dublin airport is essential to ensuring Dublin’s connectivity to the wider community, which is critical for the growth and success of Dublin businesses.”
If accepted, the Railway Order will permit TII to execute the construction and maintenance needed to operate the Metro Link railway.
Mary Rose Burke further commented: “Dublin Chamber has lobbied extensively for the delivery of an underground rail link between North County Dublin and the city centre, including a stop at Dublin Airport, and we are pleased to see it progress to the next crucial stage of development.”
“The Dublin business community is acutely aware of the benefits that MetroLink will bring for the Dublin region for decades to come. MetroLink, once completed, will make travel around Dublin easier, address Dublin’s congestion problems, and will help Ireland reach its climate targets. The MetroLink project is a piece of infrastructure that will have a lifespan of well over 100 years and can act as the spine of an underground rail network in Dublin.”
