 In advance of Ireland's upcoming Presidency of the Council of the European Union, we are pleased to announce a new series of member events to provide insights into key European policy priorities and to create a forum for our members to have a meaningful discussion with senior EU officials and experts. 

We are delighted to welcome Delcan Costello, Deputy Director-General at DG ECFIN, as our first speaker. 

In this session, he will explore:

-The role and strategic priorities of the Directorate-General of Economic and Financial Affairs
-The EU's response to strengthening competitiveness and resilience amind ongoing geopolitical uncertainty
-Ireland's priorities for its forthcoming EU Presidency

Following the presentation, attendees will have the opportunity to engage directly in a Q&A discussion.

Speaker

Declan Costello, Deputy Director General, DG ECFIN

Declan Costello is the Deputy Director General in DG ECFIN since 2019. He is currently responsible for supervising the work of DG ECFIN’s country desks, the implementation of fiscal surveillance under the Stability and Growth Pact, as well as the design and implementation of the Recovery and Resilience plans.

From May 2014, he was the European Commission's Mission Chief for Greece, as part of their Financial Assistance Programme.

He joined the European Commission in 1991 and has worked since then in the Directorate General for Economic and Financial Affairs.

He has a Degree in Economics from Trinity College Dublin and a Masters' Degree from the College of Europe in Bruges.
