Minister Patrick O’Donovan, from the Department of Further and Higher Education, Research, Innovation, and Science, has announced the formation of an Expert Panel to assess the High Performance Computing (HPC) needs of Ireland's research and innovation sectors. The panel will review the current demand for HPC services in higher education and enterprise and recommend an optimal service model. This review is driven by the growing international importance of HPC and the need for sustainable investment in this area. The panel's work will also explore governance and funding models to support these services. The Minister emphasised the importance of this review in ensuring that Ireland’s research infrastructure keeps pace with technological advancements.
