Continuing the ENACT project's momentum, the project partners hosted a workshop featuring Silvia Baron and Maria Spyrou from Turner & Townsend. This global professional services company, operating in real estate, infrastructure, and natural resources, shared insights from their project, "Decarbonising Commercial Properties at Scale," during the session held in Dublin.
During the workshop, Silvia and Maria detailed the project's objective — assisting SMEs in London with retrofitting their businesses. Their research revealed that commercial properties contribute to 10% of the UK's greenhouse gas emissions and consume 7% of its energy, emphasizing the pressing need for improved energy efficiency in existing stock.
Turner & Townsend proposed a potential solution known as The London Business Climate Challenge Model, a free energy efficiency program supporting businesses in reducing energy consumption and accelerating building decarbonization efforts in London. The goal was to engage 225 businesses, with an aim to reduce their consumption by at least 10% within a year. The workshop covered the SME selection process, the support provided, and key findings.
The workshop provided ENACT partners with the chance to establish ideas for crafting a report on Aggregated Solutions, aiming to support energy efficiency initiatives for SMEs in Ireland.
