In early December, Government announced €257 million in grants to help small and medium sized enterprises in dealing with the increased costs of doing business. Minister Coveney noted that “This fund will reach 143,000 businesses which is 95% of all rateable businesses in all corners of Ireland”.
As outlined in Dublin Chamber’s member surveys, costs are expected to increase throughout the first quarter of 2024 for Dublin businesses. The scheme intends to serve as a cash injection to those who are eligible, in an attempt to mitigate the damages felt by these rising operational costs. The grant is intended to be paid at a rate of half the enterprise’s commercial rates bill in 2023, for firms paying up to €10,000 in rates. For those paying between €10,000 and €30,000 in rates, they will receive a grant of €5,000. More details can be found on the DETE website here.
