Facilitating Connections Between Ireland & Ukraine – Webinar

On Thursday, May 30th, EEN at Dublin Chamber hosted a webinar to foster business relations between Ireland and Ukraine. Working with our EEN partners in the Ukrainian Chamber of Commerce, Cork Chamber, Chambers Ireland, and the Ukrainian Embassy in Dublin, we held the webinar online from 12:30 to 2 pm. The event aimed to show the support available to Irish companies interested in developing business with Ukrainian companies and vice versa.

The event was opened by Ms. Gerasko Larisa, Ambassador of Ukraine to Ireland, who spoke about the importance of the trading relationship. She emphasised that it is not just about economic metrics but also about people, sharing innovations, and assisting with Ukraine's economic recovery.

Mr. Gennadiy Chyzhykov, President of the Ukrainian Chamber, discussed strengthening business relationships and highlighted examples of Irish companies like Kingspan and Ryanair investing in Ukraine.

Ms. Fiona Candon, President of Chambers Ireland, spoke about the current trade between Ireland and Ukraine, noting that a solid foundation exists, and it is a well-understood trade route. The signing of the MOU will further enhance this relationship.

Ms. Mary Rose Burke, CEO of Dublin Chamber, presented the strong history of the Chamber and the work of the international department in growing relations.

Ms. Grace Kelleher, International Manager of Cork Chamber, presented their Chamber's work in the international department.

Mr. Viacheslav Ovechkin, Director of the Investments Department at the Ministry of Economy of Ukraine, spoke about the 5% growth in exports and the four billion invested in Ukraine. He highlighted their priority areas for growing exports and attracting investments in key sectors of their economy.

The Memorandum of Understanding was then signed by Chambers Ireland and the Ukrainian Chamber.

David Byrne showcased the support available to Irish companies looking to internationalise, detailing how this is facilitated via the EI Warsaw office. Conor Simpson of IDA discussed the services IDA provides and the attraction of FDI to Ireland.

Mr. Guillaume Cavalier from CRH and Mr. Mike Stenson from Kingspan spoke about their investments as Irish companies in Ukraine and the funding and support they receive from the Ukrainian government.

Oksana Osmacko from the State Property Fund of Ukraine discussed their responsibility for the privatisation of state-owned assets and how foreign individuals can invest in Ukraine.

Mr. Oleksandr Hryban from the NGO Advantage Austria explained how they showcase investment potential to investors, lenders, and guarantors.

Ms. Oleksandra Sologub from the "NAZOVNI" office presented the assistance that Ukrainian companies can access via NAZOVNI when exporting to Ireland.
